Cass County will host a graduation ceremony for its Adult Drug Treatment Court on May 19, 2025. The event is scheduled to take place at the Cass County Courthouse in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, starting at 2:30 p.m. District Court Judge Michael A. Smith will preside over the proceedings.

The ceremony marks the culmination of an intensive program designed for nonviolent individuals with drug-related offenses. Participants undergo comprehensive behavioral health treatment and community supervision as part of this initiative aimed at reducing recidivism and substance use disorders.

Problem-Solving Courts offer an alternative route through the criminal justice system by employing a specialized team process within the existing court framework. The courts aim to enhance public safety and support rehabilitation efforts through various measures such as risk assessments, individualized treatment plans, chemical testing, incentives, sanctions, and additional services.

Creston Ashburn serves as the Problem-Solving Court Coordinator and can be contacted for interviews or further information at (402) 593-2132. Media representatives are encouraged to have court media credentials.

Further details about Adult Drug Courts can be found on the Problem-Solving Court webpage of Nebraska's judicial system website. The state's judicial power is distributed among several courts under the administrative direction of the Supreme Court, including district courts and county courts.
