Randy Brown Jr., a former postal employee from Gretna, Louisiana, has been sentenced to 21 months in prison. The sentencing was delivered by United States District Judge Sarah S. Vance following Brown's guilty plea to charges of unlawfully delaying U.S. mail and theft of mail contents.

The court documents revealed that between July 2022 and October 4, 2022, Brown delayed and withheld U.S. mail assigned to him as part of his duties as a postal employee. On specific dates—September 26, September 27, and October 3, 2022—he was found to have stolen checks from the mail.

In addition to his prison term, Brown received a sentence of three years of supervised release. He is also required to pay a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson acknowledged the efforts of the United States Postal Service Office of the Inspector General and the Gretna Police Department in this case. The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Troy L. Bell from the Violent Crimes Unit.
