The North Central Problem-Solving Court is set to hold a graduation ceremony on May 19, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in the Holt County Courtroom located at 204 North 4th Street, O’Neill, Nebraska. The event will be presided over by Judge Mark Kozisek.

This ceremony celebrates the achievements of individuals who have completed an intensive program aimed at addressing substance use disorders through comprehensive behavioral health treatment and community supervision. The program is designed to provide nonviolent drug-related offenders with an alternative path within the criminal justice system.

Problem-solving courts focus on reducing recidivism and substance use by employing validated risk and need assessments, individualized treatment plans, frequent chemical testing, and a combination of incentives and sanctions. These courts aim to protect public safety while increasing participants' chances of successful rehabilitation.

For further details or interview requests regarding the event, Doug Stanton, the North Central Problem-Solving Court Coordinator, can be contacted at (402) 340-3461. Media credentials are preferred for attendance.

This graduation is part of an Adult Drug Court initiative. More information about problem-solving courts can be found on their official webpage: https://supremecourt.nebraska.gov/courts/problem-solving-courts

In Nebraska, judicial power is distributed among several courts as outlined in the state constitution. These include the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, district courts, county courts, separate juvenile courts in specific counties, and a statewide Workers’ Compensation Court.
