eCheck-In is now operational across most counties in Minnesota, enabling individuals involved in certain legal cases to check in approximately a week before their hearing. The service can be accessed via personal devices or at designated kiosks in courthouses.
The eCheck-In feature allows pre-check-ins for specified cases in the Minnesota District (Trial) Court, including adult criminal, traffic, juvenile petty, delinquency, and protection cases. It also permits users to request additional services related to their cases. Usage of eCheck-In is limited to parties directly involved in a case; witnesses, victims, and attorneys are excluded.
To use the service, users must provide their first and last names as shown on their hearing notices, along with either the court file number or their birth date.
eCheck-In comprises two stages: pre-checking in online up to six days before a hearing and checking in on the day of the hearing. For those attending in-person hearings, a final check-in is required upon arrival at the courthouse, either via personal devices where permitted or by using kiosks available in the lobby. For remote hearings, users can check in before the hearing and must follow the guidance and links provided in their hearing notice.
Despite utilizing the eCheck-In service, individuals must still be present at their hearings, comply with courthouse regulations related to electronic devices, and attend all scheduled sessions.
The system is currently available in most counties in Minnesota, with plans for expansion to more areas.
