The Southeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court will celebrate its graduation on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Nemaha County District Courtroom in Auburn, NE. Judge Richard Smith will preside over the ceremony.
The graduation ceremony symbolizes the completion of a rigorous program by participants in the problem-solving court. These courts provide an alternative path for nonviolent drug offenders through a system that emphasizes comprehensive behavioral health treatment and community supervision. The goal is to reduce recidivism and substance use among participants and improve public safety.
The courts achieve this by relying on validated risk and need assessments, offering early and individualized treatment, conducting frequent chemical tests, and applying incentives and sanctions where necessary. The program aims to increase participants' chances of successful rehabilitation.
Chris Reece, the Adult Drug Court Coordinator, is available for interviews or additional information at (402) 821-7114. Court media credentials are preferred for attendance.
The Nebraska judicial system, under the Supreme Court's administrative direction, includes the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, district courts, and county courts. Additional courts in the state are the separate juvenile courts and the Workers’ Compensation Court.
