Freddie Anthony Curry, a 54-year-old resident of Baltimore, Maryland, has pled guilty in federal court to charges involving the possession with intent to distribute large quantities of fentanyl and cocaine. The charges specifically account for 400 grams or more of fentanyl and 500 grams or more of cocaine.

The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, Kelly O. Hayes, in coordination with key figures from law enforcement agencies including William DelBagno, Special Agent in Charge at the FBI's Baltimore Field Office, Ibrar A. Mian, Special Agent in Charge at the DEA's Washington Division, and Damon Wood, Postal Inspector in Charge at the USPIS's Washington Division.

The investigation into Curry's activities began in May 2024, led by the FBI and DEA who were examining suspected drug trafficking operations in the Baltimore area. Searches of Curry’s vehicle and residence led to the recovery of approximately 980 grams of fentanyl, 1,040 grams of cocaine, along with digital scales, drug-packaging materials, and a Glock 19 9-millimeter handgun. Curry, due to past felony convictions, is not permitted to possess firearms.

Under a plea agreement awaiting court approval, Curry is set to receive a 120-month sentence at a federal prison, with sentencing scheduled for June 30, 2025.

Curry's case forms part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence. The initiative works through collaboration between varied levels of law enforcement and community partners. The initiative also forms part of the Baltimore Strike Force Initiative which is tasked with tackling violent drug trafficking and related activities.

U.S. Attorney Hayes praised the concerted efforts of the FBI, DEA, and USPIS in the investigation. Special recognition was given to Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Simpkins for her role in prosecuting the case.
