Trayveon Ramon Caldwell, a 34-year-old from Oklahoma City, has been sentenced to six years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition after prior felony convictions. The sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

On July 2, 2024, a federal Grand Jury charged Caldwell with three counts: two for being a felon in possession of ammunition and one for being a felon in possession of a firearm. This indictment followed an incident on August 28, 2023, when Oklahoma City Police responded to Caldwell's home for a domestic violence report. The victim reported that Caldwell threatened to kill her, attempted to choke her, hit her on the head, and discharged a firearm near her. Officers found a spent shell casing in his home, leading to Caldwell's arrest.

That same day, a search warrant was executed by the Oklahoma City Police Department (OCPD) after two controlled crack cocaine purchases from Caldwell's residence. A handgun and live ammunition rounds were seized. On December 12, 2024, Caldwell pleaded guilty to all charges, admitting possession of the firearm and ammunition alongside previous felony offenses.

U.S. District Judge Scott L. Palk considered the violent nature of the offense and Caldwell's criminal background during the sentencing on April 23, 2025. Caldwell's past felony convictions in Oklahoma County include possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of drug proceeds, and possession of a weapon during a felony.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the OCPD, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Gridley prosecuting the case. This case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a Department of Justice initiative to reduce violent crime, and "Operation 922," focusing on prosecuting federal crimes related to domestic violence within the Western District of Oklahoma.
