A man from Houston, Texas, has pleaded guilty to a "jugging" robbery involving an ATM technician, as announced by Chad E. Meacham, Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas. The incident took place on July 3, 2024. "Jugging" is a theft method where criminals follow victims after they withdraw or service cash from ATMs or banks to rob them.
In December 2024, Johnny Juwan Clark, aged 32, along with counterparts Corey Dashun Holloway, Tierra Toneisha Brandyberg, and Roosevelt Ford Valentine, faced charges in a superseding indictment concerning a jugging robbery in Midlothian, Texas. On April 22, 2025, Clark admitted to interference with commerce by robbery before Senior United States District Judge Barbara M.G. Lynn.
Clark and the other defendants identified with the “Hiram Clarke Money Team,” a criminal group based in Houston. Members of this group frequently conduct jugging robberies and other theft activities outside Houston.
Clark confessed that he was involved in the robbery on July 3, 2024. He approached the ATM technician at a Chase Bank in Midlothian, Texas, disguised in a hoodie and face covering. The technician was forced to the ground by Clark while his accomplices extracted cannisters holding US currency from the ATM. Approximately $247,000 was stolen. Clark acknowledged in court documents that he was the person seen forcing the technician to the ground in security footage.
Following the robbery, Clark and two accomplices escaped in a rental car to a nearby apartment complex, where they transferred the stolen money into a Range Rover and returned to Houston.
Sentencing for Clark is set for July 28, 2025. He could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison along with a $250,000 fine. Tierra Toneisha Brandyberg, one of his accomplices, has declared her intent to plead guilty, though her rearraignment date is not yet determined. The trials for the remaining accomplices, Holloway and Valentine, are scheduled for September 2025.
The FBI in Dallas Division conducted the investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Calvert is leading the prosecution.
