A former correctional officer at the Memphis Federal Correctional Institution, Bryan Miller, 32, was sentenced to federal prison on charges of bribery. The sentence was announced by Joseph C. Murphy, Jr., Interim United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.

Court records reveal that Miller began smuggling contraband into FCI Memphis in December 2022 while he was employed at the facility. Over a span of four months, he reportedly received $19,500 for his illegal activities.

In January 2024, Miller pled guilty to a charge that, as a public official, he accepted money to smuggle contraband, including narcotics, into the prison, breaching 18 U.S.C. § 201(b)(C). On April 10, 2025, United States District Judge Mark S. Norris sentenced him to 12 months and 1 day in federal prison, followed by two years of supervised release. In the federal system, parole is not an option.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Criminal Chief Michelle Kimbril-Parks and was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
