Jovonne Haynes, a 30-year-old resident of Detroit, Michigan, received a 13-month federal prison sentence for his involvement in a drug trafficking operation. This operation involved the distribution of controlled substances from Michigan to Monongalia County, West Virginia.

As stated in court records and proceedings, Haynes allowed the use of his Morgantown apartment for drug trafficking activities. In December 2024, he pled guilty to a methamphetamine distribution charge. Post-sentence, he will be subject to three years of supervised release.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda Wesley represented the government in the case. The investigation involved various agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in Clarksburg, the FBI in Clarksburg, and the Mon Metro Drug Task Force, funded by the HIDTA initiative. Other local enforcement bodies, such as the West Virginia State Police and the Monongalia County Sheriff's Office, also participated. Additionally, the Morgantown Police Department, WVU Police Department, DEA Cincinnati District Office, DEA Detroit Field Division, and the FBI in Detroit contributed to the investigation.

The sentencing was overseen by Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh.
