Nelson Cortes, a 50-year-old resident of Beverly, West Virginia, has admitted to methamphetamine distribution. According to court documents, Cortes was conducting sales of the drug, at times from his residence.

Cortes is facing a potential sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison. The final sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge who will consider U.S. Sentencing Guidelines along with other statutory factors.

The prosecution is led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner. The Mountain Region Drug Task Force, which receives funding from HIDTA, conducted the investigation into Cortes' activities. The case proceedings were overseen by U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi.
