Jordan L. Davis, a 34-year-old from Nampa, has been sentenced to 188 months in federal prison for carjacking and unlawful possession of a firearm. This sentencing was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Justin Whatcott.

According to court records, on July 31, 2024, Davis and an accomplice forcibly entered a home in Nampa, Idaho. Davis threatened the resident by pointing a firearm at his head and demanded compliance while stealing personal belongings and the victim's vehicle.

Law enforcement responded after the victim called 911. Davis was found driving the stolen car on the freeway but refused to stop. A high-speed chase ensued with speeds exceeding 100 mph. Police eventually halted Davis using a PIT maneuver, but it took a 20-minute standoff involving multiple agencies before he surrendered.

Acting U.S. Attorney Whatcott praised the efforts of local law enforcement, stating, “Thanks to the heroic efforts of the Nampa Police Department, the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, and the Idaho State Police, no one was injured during this dangerous incident.” He emphasized the serious nature of Davis's crimes and the importance of his sentence in protecting the community.

Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue highlighted the swift escalation of the crime and commended his deputies and law enforcement partners. “I’m proud of the courage and professionalism our deputies showed that day,” he said, acknowledging the successful prosecution by Acting U.S. Attorney Whatcott's team.

In addition to the prison sentence, U.S. District Judge Amanda K. Brailsford ordered Davis to serve three years of supervised release and to pay over $37,000 in restitution.

The arrest and subsequent charges were attributed to the efforts of the Nampa Police Department, the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, and the Idaho State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney David Morse prosecuted the case.

This incident is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aiming to reduce violent crime and gun violence through community collaboration and strategic enforcement. More information about PSN can be found at Justice.gov/PSN.
