Dartanyan Ricardo Hawkins, 30, of Washington D.C., has been sentenced to a five-year federal prison term for his part in a conspiracy involving substantial marijuana distribution within the District of Columbia. This was revealed by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr., FBI Special Agent Sean Ryan, Special Agent in Charge Anthony Spotswood of the ATF Washington Field Division, and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Hawkins, known by the alias “Shitty”, was affiliated with the Push Dat Shit (PDS) and Jugg Gang (JG) street crews. He confessed on November 1, 2024, before U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, to possessing with the intent to distribute over 100 kilograms of marijuana. Hawkins also acknowledged the possession of a firearm connected to his crimes and admitted to using Instagram as a platform for marijuana sales.

In addition to the prison sentence, Judge Berman Jackson imposed four years of supervised release on Hawkins.

Court documents indicate that the PDS gang managed territory on Wheeler Road, Southeast, and operated an open-air drug market. In 2018, PDS formed an alliance with Jugg Gang. The gangs colluded to carry firearms, including machine guns, to safeguard themselves, their assets, and their turf from rival gangs.

The investigation leading to this sentence is part of a broader ongoing effort that has secured 27 convictions and the seizure of two vehicles, 35 firearms, four machine guns, over 1,000 rounds of ammunition, about 60 pounds of marijuana, 41 grams of cocaine base, numerous oxycodone pills, and nearly $500,000 in cash.

The FBI’s Washington Field Office, the ATF’s Washington Field Division, and the MPD conducted the investigation, while Assistant U.S. Attorney James B. Nelson is handling the prosecution.
