A man from Rock Island, Tennessee, Mark Dillon Mason, has been sentenced to 324 months in prison for producing child pornography. The sentence was issued by Chief U.S. District Judge David Bunning.
Mason, 32, entered a plea agreement admitting he traveled to Morehead, Kentucky, three times in 2022, engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor during each visit and using cellphones to record the acts. According to federal law, Mason is required to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence. After his release, he will be on supervised probation for 20 years.
The sentence was announced by Paul McCaffrey, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, along with Rana Saoud, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Chief Derrick Blevins of the Morehead Police Department, and Sheriff Mike Coyle of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation involved the HSI, Morehead Police Department, and Madison County Sheriff’s Office, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin Roth is leading the prosecution.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a U.S. Department of Justice initiative started in 2006 to tackle child exploitation. The program coordinates efforts to find and prosecute offenders and to rescue victims.
