Gary Hammond Jackson, III, a resident of Pasadena, Maryland, has been sentenced to 35 years in federal prison. U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett delivered the sentence, which will be followed by a lifetime of supervised release. Jackson was convicted of sexually exploiting a minor and committing a felony involving a minor as a registered sex offender.

According to his guilty plea, Jackson abused two minor females between 2020 and 2022, producing child sexual abuse material in the process. In November 2020, Jackson abused a 6-year-old, capturing images of the act on his cell phone and was later convicted of related offenses in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Following his conviction, he was placed on probation and registered as a sex offender. However, in November 2022, Jackson created further abusive images involving a 3-year-old.

The sentencing announcement was made by Kelly O. Hayes, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, alongside officials from the FBI and Maryland State Police. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a program initiated by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation. The project seeks to prosecute offenders and protect victims using a collaboration of federal, state, and local resources.

Thanks were extended by U.S. Attorney Hayes to the FBI, Maryland State Police, and the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office for their involvement in the investigation and to Assistant U.S. Attorneys Spencer L. Todd and Paul E. Budlow who handled the prosecution.

Additional information about Project Safe Childhood and related resources are available on the Department of Justice's website.
