A federal grand jury in Bowling Green, Kentucky, has indicted a Hickman resident, Christopher Tyler Wilson, on charges related to fentanyl distribution and illegal possession of a firearm. According to court documents, Wilson, aged 31, is accused of conspiring to distribute 500 grams or more of a fentanyl mixture and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Wilson's previous felony convictions prevent him from legally possessing firearms or ammunition.

Wilson's past convictions include first-degree unlawful imprisonment and assault under extreme emotional disturbance, with the judgment rendered by the Fulton Circuit Court on April 22, 2021. Following his indictment, Wilson has made an initial appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge and is currently detained pending trial. If found guilty, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, with a potential maximum sentence of life imprisonment. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge after reviewing the relevant guidelines and statutory factors.

The investigation involves multiple agencies, including the ATF Paducah Satellite Office, the USPIS Bowling Office, the HSI Bowling Green Office, and the DEA Paducah Post of Duty. Additionally, the Kentucky State Police, Hickman Police Department, and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office are providing support. Assistant U.S. Attorney Leigh Ann Dycus is handling the prosecution.

The case against Wilson is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration, dismantling cartels, and transnational criminal organizations. This operation is a concerted effort utilizing resources from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhoods.

"An indictment is merely an allegation," as noted in the announcement, indicating that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
