Anthony Michael Mowery, a resident of Parkersburg, received a nine-year prison sentence for his involvement in a methamphetamine trafficking organization in Charleston, West Virginia. The sentence also includes four years of supervised release. At the time of this offense, Mowery was already under supervised release following a previous conviction for firearm possession.

Court documents reveal that Mowery participated in a drug trafficking organization between January and May 2024, which distributed methamphetamine in Charleston. Mowery facilitated meetings where his co-conspirators exchanged methamphetamine for further distribution. On May 5, 2024, he arranged for Michael Dale Cain, a co-conspirator, to collect approximately three pounds of methamphetamine in Charleston to transport to Parkersburg. Law enforcement intercepted Cain, seized the drugs, and arrested him.

Mowery's criminal history includes prior convictions for various offenses, including assault and battery. For his latest offense while on supervised release, he received an additional two-year sentence running concurrently with his nine-year sentence.

Mowery was one of four individuals indicted in the federal conspiracy case. Each of the four pleaded guilty. Cain received an eight-year and one-month prison sentence earlier this year for his role, with additional supervised release to follow. Another co-conspirator, Kirt Ray King, also pleaded guilty and awaits sentencing. John Wayne Harkless, another co-defendant, pleaded guilty and is also awaiting sentencing.

The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was part of the Department of Justice's Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF). Established to combat major drug trafficking and money laundering organizations, OCDETF plays a crucial role in the Department of Justice's drug reduction strategy.

Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston commended the FBI's investigative work. United States District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin administered the sentences, while Assistant United States Attorney Jeremy B. Wolfe prosecuted the case.

Further details related to the case are available on PACER under Case No. 2:24-cr-95.
