Vincent Sandifer, a 25-year-old resident of Mobile, has been sentenced to over five years in prison for illegal firearm possession. As outlined in court documents, Sandifer was a suspect in various auto, business, and apartment burglaries. Following his sighting while allegedly transferring stolen goods between vehicles, he attempted to flee the authorities, culminating in multiple collisions, including one involving a patrol car, before being detained. At the time of his apprehension, Sandifer was found with a firearm, despite previous felony convictions that preclude him from owning weapons.
Among Sandifer's past convictions are eight counts of auto burglary, along with charges of burglary and cruelty to animals. He faced indictment as a felon in possession of a firearm, a charge to which he confessed. United States District Court Judge Kristi K. DuBose handed down a sentence of 63 months of imprisonment, followed by a three-year supervised release period.
This development was announced by U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello for the Southern District of Alabama. The case was investigated collaboratively by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Mobile Police Department. This legal action forms part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a nationwide initiative designed to curb violent crime and enhance community safety through coordinated law enforcement efforts.
The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica S. Terrill on behalf of the United States.
