A Waynesburg, Kentucky man, Steven Fellmy, aged 46, has been sentenced to 300 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The sentencing was delivered by U.S. District Judge Karen Caldwell.
The case against Fellmy began on August 8, 2023, when a detective from the Simpsonville Police Department passed on an anonymous tip to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office. The tip involved the transportation of a substantial quantity of methamphetamine from Anderson County to Mercer County. Fellmy was subsequently stopped by a deputy from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office. During the traffic stop, a narcotics detection dog from the Harrodsburg Police Department signaled the presence of drugs in Fellmy's vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed 193.5 grams of methamphetamine with a purity of 95%. Additionally, Fellmy was found in possession of 9.439 grams of methamphetamine and 22.529 grams of heroin.
Under federal law, Fellmy is required to serve 85% of his prison term. Following his release, he will be subject to 10 years of supervision by the U.S. Probation Office.
The sentence was announced jointly by Paul McCaffrey, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Jim Scott, Special Agent in Charge, DEA, Louisville Field Division; Chief Scott Elder of the Harrodsburg Police Department; Chief Thomas Brummer of the Simpsonville Police Department; and Sheriff Ernie Kelty from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.
The case was investigated by the DEA, Harrodsburg Police Department, Simpsonville Police Department, and Mercer County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittany Baker is prosecuting the case.
