A Portland man, Francis Mezan, has pleaded guilty to three counts of drug distribution, following proceedings in the U.S. District Court in Portland, Maine.

Court records indicate that Mezan, aged 34, carried out drug sales to a confidential source on three separate occasions during the summer of 2024. The exchanges were documented through video and surveillance, and involved the sale of cocaine and cocaine base.

Mezan is facing potential penalties of up to 20 years in federal prison, a maximum fine of $1 million, and supervised release ranging from three years to life. A federal district judge will be responsible for determining the final sentence, taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors.

The investigation was led by the FBI, with support from the Portland Police Department and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
