A Vernon resident has admitted to receiving sexually explicit images from minors on Snapchat, announced Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. The individual, Daryl Todd, 44, entered a guilty plea today in Hartford federal court to charges related to child exploitation.

The investigation by the FBI's Child Exploitation Task Force disclosed that Todd used Snapchat to engage with underage girls, convincing them to send him sexually explicit content. In certain instances, Todd compensated the victims via Cash App. He also sent explicit images of himself to these minors.

Following his arrest on March 7, 2024, authorities examined Todd's cellphone and discovered explicit images of minor females. He pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography, an offense with a mandatory minimum prison sentence of five years, potentially extending to 20 years. Sentencing is set for July 1.

Currently, Todd is free on a $100,000 bond awaiting his sentencing. The FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, encompassing federal, state, and local law enforcement, conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nancy V. Gifford is prosecuting the case through the U.S. Department of Justice's Project Safe Childhood Initiative, which focuses on safeguarding children from sexual exploitation and abuse.
