A Massachusetts man is set for arraignment in Rhode Island federal court on Wednesday for serious charges involving attempted enticement, interstate travel, and child pornography. This development follows a superseding indictment announced by Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

On April 2, 2025, a federal grand jury issued the indictment against Robert Consorti, 51, of Wilmington, Massachusetts. He faces two counts of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor for illicit sexual activity, along with charges of interstate travel for illicit activity, and possession and transportation of child pornography.

Consorti's October 2024 arrest happened when he allegedly expected to meet a 14-year-old girl at a Warwick hotel for illicit purposes; however, the intended victim was actually a law enforcement officer.

The investigation revealed Consorti allegedly communicated with numerous minors for sexual activity, transmitting child sexual abuse material, and attempting to groom and persuade them for illicit acts. One victim, first contacted when aged 12, was allegedly persuaded over six months to meet for sexual contact, with Consorti providing vapes and edible marijuana rather than monetary payment for such acts.

The federal indictment is an accusation, and Consorti is presumed innocent until proven otherwise. This case forms part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative to tackle child sexual exploitation and abuse. For more on Project Safe Childhood, visit their website.

Assistant United States Attorney John P. McAdams is prosecuting the case, investigated by the Rhode Island ICAC Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations. The ICAC includes state police and various local police departments like those in Warwick and East Providence.
