A Lowell man has admitted in federal court to aiding in the robbery of a mail carrier, as announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack.
Tyler Savinon, aged 18, entered a guilty plea to one count of aiding and abetting the robbery of a mail carrier. U.S. District Court Judge Samantha D. Elliott has scheduled his sentencing for July 9, 2025.
Court records indicate that Savinon orchestrated the robbery of a mail carrier by instructing two accomplices to obtain a key that could unlock blue mail collection boxes in Nashua. It was discovered that Savinon utilized the stolen key to open at least two mailboxes in Nashua, specifically on Dunstable Road and Spring Street.
The legal statute associated with this charge allows for a maximum of ten years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine reaching $250,000. Federal district court judges determine sentences based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.
The United States Postal Inspection Service headed the investigation with support from the Nashua Police Department and the Lowell Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Z. Krasinski is overseeing the prosecution of this case.
