Timothy Ryan Wolfe, aged 39, from Huntington, has been sentenced to three years of federal probation with one year of home detention. This sentence comes after Wolfe was found guilty of engaging in the business of dealing firearms without a Federal Firearms License (FFL).

During the period from at least April 30, 2024, to June 6, 2024, Wolfe conducted his firearms dealings using various social media platforms. Wolfe admitted to purchasing firearms both for direct sale to individuals and without specific buyers in mind, intending to sell these to others. He acknowledged he was aware of the legal requirement to have an FFL based on his activities' volume and regularity.

Wolfe made a total of 11 firearm sales to a confidential informant across five transactions, all conducted at his residence. He confessed that these transactions included two unregistered short-barrel rifles. Furthermore, Wolfe admitted to acquiring and modifying one of those firearms upon request.

The sentencing was delivered by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers. Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie Taylor prosecuted the case, and Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced the sentence, praising the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' investigative work.

This case forms part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aiming to reduce violent crime and gun violence, enhancing neighborhood safety. The Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy on May 26, 2021, strengthening PSN through principles like fostering community trust, supporting violence prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
