A Mexican national, Francisco Raymundo Dominguez-Sanchez, has admitted to reentering the United States unlawfully, U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei announced. Dominguez-Sanchez, who is 33 years old, has been previously convicted for the same offense twice. His first removal occurred in 2013, and he was subsequently removed from the U.S. eight more times between then and 2023.

The latest incident leading to his guilty plea happened on January 28, when Dominguez-Sanchez was halted while driving northbound near the Border Patrol checkpoint at Falfurrias. During the standard immigration check, authorities identified him as an illegal immigrant with prior removal orders.

Dominguez-Sanchez is now awaiting sentencing by U.S. District Judge David Morales, which is scheduled for June 25. He could face up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000. Until then, he remains in custody.

The investigation was carried out by Border Patrol, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley Martin is responsible for prosecuting the case.
