An Allegheny County man, Marc Brown, has been sentenced to serve 12 to 30 years in state prison for the repeated sexual abuse of two children between 2004 and 2006. Brown, aged 67, received his sentence in Allegheny County Court after admitting guilt to several charges, including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault.
The case against Brown arose from the 49th Statewide Investigating Grand Jury, which examined testimonies regarding multiple Jehovah’s Witnesses congregation members implicated in child sexual abuse. During the time of the offenses, Brown was part of the congregation and repeatedly assaulted the children, with whom he was familiar.
Attorney General Dave Sunday commended the efforts that led to the sentencing. "This defendant ultimately could not escape accountability for heinous conduct perpetrated years ago, thanks to the hard work of investigators and the grand jurors, and the bravery of the survivors," Attorney General Sunday remarked. "This significant period of incarceration is appropriate for someone who repeatedly harms children."
Testimonies revealed details of Brown's actions, including incidents of groping the children, observing them while showering, and nighttime assaults. Senior Deputy Attorney General Alicia Werner took charge of the prosecution in this case.
