A Raleigh man was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Thursday for cocaine trafficking and possession of firearms. Linwood Davis pleaded guilty on December 5, 2024, to charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Court documents reveal that Davis was identified as a cocaine supplier in the Raleigh area in June 2023. Following multiple controlled purchases, law enforcement executed a search warrant at his residence on November 3, 2023, seizing over 1,000 grams of cocaine, about $44,470 in U.S. currency, and two firearms with large-capacity magazines.

Davis has a criminal history that includes five previous felony drug convictions from 2003, 2004, 2007, and 2013, and two felony convictions for eluding arrest with a motor vehicle in 2003 and 2004.

The announcement was made by Daniel P. Bubar, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, following sentencing by U.S. District Judge Terrence W. Boyle. The case was investigated by the Raleigh Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, with prosecution by Assistant U.S. Attorney Casey L. Peaden.
