Dylan Halbur, a resident of Spencer, Iowa, has pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The plea was entered on March 28, 2025, in a federal court in Sioux City.
Evidence presented at the plea hearing revealed that law enforcement searched a camper in Spencer, Iowa, on August 26, 2024. The camper was a known location where Halbur resided and kept possessions. The search yielded 45 grams of pure methamphetamine, $2,900 in cash, marijuana, a digital scale, and other items indicative of drug usage and distribution. Halbur admitted ownership of the methamphetamine and acknowledged his intent to distribute it.
Dylan Halbur's sentencing will be determined by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand after the preparation of a presentence report. Halbur will remain in the custody of the United States Marshal until sentencing. The potential penalties for this charge include up to 20 years in imprisonment, a fine of up to $1,000,000, and at least three years of supervised release after any imprisonment.
