Antwuan Brown, a resident of Alpharetta, Georgia, appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Linda T. Walker on charges of possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl. The charges stem from an investigation that led to a major seizure of approximately 240,000 fentanyl pills and 4.5 kilograms of fentanyl powder. This operation is considered the largest of its kind in the district's history.

"Federal and local law enforcement partners undoubtedly saved countless lives through their diligent investigation and seizure of this immense quantity of deadly fentanyl," commented Acting U.S. Attorney Richard S. Moultrie, Jr. He further stated that the office will continue collaborating with various law enforcement agencies to combat the distribution of fentanyl.

Jae W. Chung, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Atlanta Division, emphasized the agency's commitment to tackling the fentanyl crisis. "DEA will continue to combat the fentanyl crisis by holding the most dangerous and prolific drug traffickers accountable," Chung stated, noting that incarcerating drug dealers could save lives, especially as fentanyl ranks as the top cause of death for Americans aged 18-45.

A statement from the Sandy Springs Police Department highlighted their commitment to mitigating the impact of illegal drugs, particularly fentanyl. "We work closely with our federal law enforcement partners, such as the DEA/HIDTA to strengthen our efforts," a department representative commented.

The events leading to Brown's arrest began on March 21, 2025, when investigators carried out search warrants in Sandy Springs. The search revealed a pill press and two firearms in an apartment. Brown was found with a key to a vehicle where the fentanyl pills and additional drugs were discovered. Brown was subsequently arrested.

It is important to note that the Criminal Complaint contains allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Sandy Springs Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Matthew R. LaGrone is handling the prosecution.

This case falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at fighting illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations to protect communities from violent crime.
