Five residents of Louisville, Kentucky, are facing charges for fentanyl and firearms offenses, as announced by a federal grand jury on March 19, 2025. The charges stem from activities from October 28, 2024, to March 5, 2025. This development was publicized by U.S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett, along with several law enforcement heads, including Special Agents and Commissioners from various federal and state agencies.
According to the indictment, Abdulkadir Malindo, 21, Abdulkadir Ali, 21, Hussein Hussein, 19, Henry Martinez, 20, and Bilal Malindo, 19, were charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute over 400 grams of fentanyl. In addition to this, Abdulakdir Malindo faces multiple charges including distribution of fentanyl, firearm possession for drug trafficking, illegal possession of a machine gun, and firearms trafficking.
Specific firearms were mentioned in connection to Malindo's charges, including a Glock Switch device, classified federally as a machine gun. The possession of several pistols and rifles on various dates was noted in the indictment.
Other charges include Abdulkadir Ali and Hussein Hussein facing charges for fentanyl distribution, with Hussein also possessing a firearm for a drug trafficking crime. Henry Martinez and Bilal Malindo are also facing fentanyl distribution charges.
Following their arrest, all but Bilal Malindo have made their initial court appearances. He remains in state custody awaiting a federal court appearance. If convicted, the defendants face a range of minimum sentences from 10 to 30 years, with the possibility of life imprisonment. A federal judge will determine the final sentences.
"This case is part of Operation Take Back America," a U.S. DOJ initiative aimed at tackling illegal activities through organized crime, drug enforcement, and neighborhood safety efforts. The operation is a cooperative effort utilizing multiple task forces to address these issues nationwide.
