Douglas Wolfley of Fairview, Wyoming, has been sentenced to a 10-day incarceration for driving under the influence of alcohol in Yellowstone National Park. This marks his third DUI conviction in a decade. In addition to jail time, he was fined $3,050 and given three years of unsupervised probation with a ban from the park. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ariel Calmes, with U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephanie A. Hambrick imposing the sentence on March 18.
Angela Flaherty from Seattle received a seven-day jail term for leaving designated trails at Old Faithful geyser in Yellowstone National Park. Her actions were partially recorded by another visitor. Besides her sentence, she must pay $40 in court costs. The same prosecutor and judge handled her case, with sentencing on March 19.
Yiyang Shen of Doraville, Georgia, faced similar legal action after parking his vehicle off-road in a thermal area within Yellowstone. He was sentenced to seven days in jail and five years' probation, including a park ban and fines totaling $1,050. His sentence was delivered by Judge Hambrick on March 12.
In Gillette, Wyoming, Jeffrey Cletus Geist received an 18-month prison sentence for firearm possession as a felon following an arrest where drugs and a handgun were found during a traffic stop. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with local law enforcement investigated the incident leading to Geist's indictment last September and guilty plea in December.
Antonio Pacheco-Bautista from Michoacan, Mexico was sentenced to two years' imprisonment for illegal re-entry into the United States after previous deportation violations dating back to 2009. Upon release from prison, he will be deported again as per immigration procedures.
Similarly charged with illegal re-entry is Omar Pacheco-Alonso of Mexico who received time served plus ten days to allow for deportation proceedings without supervised release following his arrest for DUI earlier this year.
