A Council Bluffs couple has been sentenced to federal prison for their involvement in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. Heather Lee Vore, 34, and Nicholas Carl Thomas, 42, were found guilty of facilitating the distribution of methamphetamine across Council Bluffs, Omaha, and other locations.
Court documents reveal that Vore was responsible for sending money to a drug source in Mexico and recruiting individuals, including Thomas, to assist in communications with the Mexican supplier and transfer funds for methamphetamine procurement.
On January 16, 2025, Vore received a ten-year prison sentence followed by five years of supervised release. On March 20, 2025, Thomas was sentenced to twelve years in prison with an additional five-year supervised release period. It is important to note that parole is not available within the federal system.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa. The investigation leading to these sentences was conducted by the Council Bluffs Police Department.
