A Columbus, Ohio man, Jeffrey Headley, aged 61, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for producing child pornography. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Danny C. Reeves.
Headley admitted to creating images of a victim who was under his care at the time. These images were initially shared on a Russian-based website in May 2013 and later distributed globally. Law enforcement identified Headley as the creator based on the offender's pictures and account information.
According to federal law, Headley is required to serve 85 percent of his sentence. After his release, he will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for life.
The sentencing was announced by Paul McCaffrey, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Rana Saoud, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI); and Sheriff Mike Coyle from Madison County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation involved HSI and the Madison County Sheriff's Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin Roth is prosecuting the case.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative started in 2006 by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project brings together resources from various levels of government to prosecute offenders and rescue victims. More information can be found at www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
