A Lehigh County man, George “Travis” Woodfield, 41, of Macungie, Pennsylvania, has pled guilty to serious child exploitation charges. The announcement was made by United States Attorney David Metcalf after Woodfield entered his plea before United States District Court Judge Joseph F. Leeson, Jr. He admitted guilt to one count of transporting a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity and one count of accessing with intent to view child pornography.

Woodfield's indictment came from a federal grand jury on December 5, 2024. According to court filings and the defendant's own admissions, he transported an 11-year-old across state lines for an overnight trip to New York City in November 2018. During this trip, he sexually abused the child in their hotel room. Additionally, between September 2015 and July 2024, Woodfield accessed numerous images depicting children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 1, where Woodfield faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years’ imprisonment with a potential maximum penalty of life in prison.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. This program unites resources from various levels of government to locate and prosecute individuals exploiting children online and aims to rescue victims.

The investigation was conducted by FBI Philadelphia’s Allentown Resident Agency along with FBI Richmond. They were supported by the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section’s High-Tech Investigations Unit. Prosecution efforts are being led by Assistant United States Attorney Rebecca J. Kulik alongside CEOS Senior Trial Attorney Jennifer T. Leonardo and CEOS Trial Attorney Jessica L. Urban.
