A Birmingham man has admitted guilt to charges related to firearms and narcotics, as confirmed by U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and FBI Special Agent in Charge Carlton L. Peeples.

Isiah De’Monte De’Mario Henley, aged 31, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge John H. England where he confessed to distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl, possessing these drugs with intent to distribute, carrying a firearm during drug trafficking activities, possessing a machine gun, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Court documents reveal that in July and August of 2024, Henley engaged in the sale of methamphetamine and fentanyl to a confidential informant on three occasions. On August 8, 2024, during a transaction in Birmingham with an informant, law enforcement attempted to arrest Henley. He fled into a nearby residence, leaving behind a bag before exiting through the front door armed with a black handgun featuring an extended magazine. After being instructed to disarm himself, Henley discarded the weapon into a vacant lot covered with tall grass before being captured by agents. The recovered firearm was found modified with a Glock switch and had its extended magazine fully loaded. The abandoned bag contained 465 grams of methamphetamine along with over seven grams of fentanyl.

The case was investigated by the FBI in collaboration with the Vestavia Hill Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittany T. Byrd is handling the prosecution.
