United States Attorney David Metcalf has announced that Talia Hicks, a 32-year-old resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges related to distributing controlled substances. The plea was entered before United States District Court Judge Kelley Brisbon Hodge.

Hicks admitted to conspiring with several individuals, including one identified as T.T., to smuggle Suboxone into the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility (CFCF) over a period from December 2019 through November 2024. Evidence from court filings and Hicks's admission detailed their involvement in the operation.

The investigation included an analysis of video tablet calls within CFCF, where inmates communicated using recorded messages. These recordings revealed discussions between T.T. and others about arranging payments through CashApp and Apple for the smuggling activities. Records showed that both Hicks and T.T. were involved in sending and receiving these payments on behalf of each other.

Transactions facilitated by Hicks included either processing payments for Suboxone or providing the drug to an unidentified accomplice who then smuggled it into CFCF.

Hicks is due for sentencing on July 8, facing a maximum potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jason D. Grenell.
