The Cumberland County Courthouse in Portland is set to undergo significant construction as its aging HVAC system is replaced. The project will commence on March 31, 2025, and is expected to conclude by September 2025. During this period, the courthouse will remain operational for the public from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

To accommodate the construction, courtroom assignments and events will be adjusted. Temporary courtrooms will be established within the courthouse itself, alternative locations will be utilized, and additional remote court sessions are planned to minimize disruptions. The Judicial Branch is formulating a plan to maintain normal operations as much as possible and promises further details once finalized.

For those intending to visit during construction, it is advised to check for updates on the Court Alerts page of the Maine Judicial Branch website or call (207) 822-4200 for current information.

Updates regarding the courthouse construction project can also be accessed on their official website. Individuals with inquiries about specific cases should contact the Clerk's Office directly.
