A Birmingham resident has been sentenced to over five years in prison for carjacking offenses. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and Jason Stankiewicz, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Nashville Field Division.

Christon John Wayman, aged 21, received a 68-month prison sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Anna Manasco. In November 2024, Wayman admitted guilt to two counts of carjacking.

The plea agreement detailed that Wayman carried out carjackings at two separate locations in Birmingham during September and October 2023. He targeted victims through a dating application and used a firearm in at least one incident.

The investigation was conducted by the ATF alongside the Birmingham Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittney L. Plyler handled the prosecution.
