Christopher Morgan, a 21-year-old from Chicopee, Massachusetts, was sentenced to 78 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for his involvement in a drug distribution conspiracy. Chief United States District Judge Christina Reiss delivered the sentence on March 13, 2025. Morgan had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and cocaine, as well as using and carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.

Court records reveal that Morgan and co-defendant Javon Calderon spent significant time in Bennington, Vermont, distributing fentanyl and cocaine in 2022. They were hosted by Shavonne Doucette and Kyle Winnie, who occasionally sold drugs for them. In September 2022, an altercation occurred at the Doucette/Winnie residence where Calderon and Morgan assaulted a local distributor over a drug debt. The incident was partially captured on video showing Calderon and Morgan threatening the victim with firearms.

Calderon also pleaded guilty to similar charges and received an 85-month prison sentence with eight years of supervised release on December 23, 2024. Doucette and Winnie admitted to making their residence available for drug distribution. Doucette received a sentence of one year and one day in prison with three years of supervised release on January 21, 2025. Winnie was sentenced to time served followed by three years of supervised release on February 18, 2025.

Acting United States Attorney Michael P. Drescher praised the investigative efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies including Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Vermont State Police, Bennington Police Department, among others.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Corinne Smith prosecuted the case while various defense attorneys represented the defendants: Peter Langrock for Morgan, Devin McKnight for Calderon, Brooks McArthur for Doucette, and Jordana Levine for Winnie.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The program emphasizes building trust within communities, supporting violence prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and evaluating outcomes.
