A Berlin man has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for drug trafficking offenses. Douglas Gray, 52, received the sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Samantha D. Elliott after pleading guilty on October 15, 2024, to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine.
Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack stated that "when law enforcement encountered the defendant, he was in possession of distribution-level quantities of multiple drugs." He emphasized that New Hampshire law enforcement is committed to prosecuting those who sell drugs for personal profit and noted that the significant sentence reflects the seriousness of Gray's conduct.
Jodi Cohen, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Boston Division, remarked on Gray's criminal history and his intention to distribute drugs within communities. She stated that "career criminal Douglas Gray’s intent to push this poison into our communities could have resulted in deadly consequences," adding that he will spend eight years behind bars as a result.
The investigation found that in 2023, Gray visited an automotive shop in Concord known for drug trafficking activities. After leaving the shop and traveling northbound, investigators searched his vehicle and discovered nearly a pound of methamphetamine, over 200 grams of fentanyl, and over 100 grams of cocaine.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Major Offender Task Force and the New Hampshire State Police with assistance from the Concord Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather A. Cherniske prosecuted the case.
This sentencing is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators.
