Steven Greenleaf Blodgett, a 67-year-old resident of Pocatello, has been sentenced to a decade in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The sentence was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Justin Whatcott.
In July 2024, law enforcement officers from the BADGES Task Force executed a search warrant on Blodgett's rental car as he returned to Bannock County from Utah. Approximately four pounds of methamphetamine were seized during this operation. A subsequent search of Blodgett’s residence in Pocatello revealed a loaded firearm and evidence indicating drug distribution activities.
Blodgett was indicted by a federal grand jury in August 2024 and entered a guilty plea on November 19, 2024. On March 17, 2025, Chief United States District Judge David C. Nye sentenced him to ten years in prison followed by five years of supervised release.
The investigation involved several agencies including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Idaho State Police, Bannock County Sheriff’s Office, Pocatello Police Department, Chubbuck Police Department, Bingham County Sheriff’s Office, and Blackfoot Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Blythe H. McLane prosecuted the case.
The case was part of the Oregon-Idaho High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program which is sponsored by the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). HIDTA supports multiagency drug enforcement initiatives like the BADGES Task Force that targets drug trafficking crimes in Bannock County and surrounding areas.
