Sergio Humberto Ramos, a 73-year-old resident of Nogales, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison. The sentence was handed down by United States District Court Chief Judge Jennifer G. Zipps. Following his prison term, Ramos will also undergo five years of supervised release.

Ramos pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it. He admitted to storing the drugs at a trucking yard near Nogales until they could be transported elsewhere for distribution.

The case is part of an initiative by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Strike Force Initiative. This program establishes permanent multi-agency task force teams that work collaboratively in one location. It aims to disrupt and dismantle significant drug traffickers and transnational criminal organizations through intelligence-driven operations.

The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Department of Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Pima County Sheriff’s Department, and Arizona Department of Public Safety. Assistant U.S. Attorney David Petermann from Tucson handled the prosecution.
