Kimberly Rosetta Logan, a 48-year-old resident of Beckley, West Virginia, received a sentence of two years and ten months in prison. This will be followed by three years of supervised release for her involvement in distributing fentanyl. Logan was part of a drug trafficking organization that dealt with methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine base in Beckley and other areas within the Southern District of West Virginia.
Court documents reveal that on April 10, 2024, Logan sold fentanyl to a confidential informant at her home. She confessed to this transaction and admitted to distributing more fentanyl and cocaine throughout May 2024 while also using some herself. During this period, she regularly ordered around 8 grams of fentanyl and 4 grams of cocaine weekly from her supplier in Beckley.
Logan's criminal record includes past convictions for battery, obstruction of an officer, shoplifting offenses, and controlled substances offenses.
She is one among twelve individuals indicted for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine base from June 2023 to May 2024 within the Southern District of West Virginia. All twelve have pleaded guilty; two defendants pleaded guilty to different charges instead of those listed in the indictment.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston praised the investigative efforts made by several agencies including the FBI, ATF, and the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit which involves officers from various local law enforcement departments.
Chief United States District Judge Frank W. Volk delivered the sentence while Assistant United States Attorney Andrew D. Isabell prosecuted the case.
This investigation was conducted under the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) program which aims to dismantle significant drug trafficking organizations posing threats to public safety or national security.
