Robert Dorsey, a 47-year-old resident of New Jersey, has been sentenced to 46 months in prison for trafficking firearms. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Richard G. Andrews on March 11, 2025.

According to court documents, Dorsey engaged in the sale of four firearms over three transactions between September and October 2023. These sales were made to a law enforcement informant operating in New Jersey and Delaware. Among the firearms sold was a privately made firearm (PMF), often referred to as a "ghost gun," and another that had been stolen from Maryland shortly before its sale on the black market. Additionally, it was noted that Dorsey believed one of the firearms he sold would be used in a violent crime. Alongside these activities, Dorsey also sold crack cocaine and heroin on multiple occasions, sometimes combining drug sales with gun transactions.

Dorsey identified himself as the vice president of a chapter of the Thunderguards Motorcycle Club known as the "North Pole" based in Wilmington, DE. He openly discussed his affiliation with the club during investigations and was accompanied by other members during his final firearm transaction with the informant.

Acting U.S. Attorney Shannon T. Hanson emphasized the dangers posed by illegal firearm trafficking: “Trafficking firearms, especially PMFs and stolen guns, is a serious threat to public safety." She commended law enforcement agencies for their efforts in disrupting such activities in New Jersey and Delaware.

Special Agent LC Cheeks Jr., from ATF's Newark Field Division, highlighted the cooperative efforts involved in this case: "This investigation is an example of ATF’s dedication to working with our state, local and federal partners... These results demonstrate how partnerships between our agencies work to protect our communities."

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives led the investigation with support from Delaware State Police, New Jersey State Police, and Pennsville Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Samuel S. Frey prosecuted the case.

Further details about this case can be accessed through official channels including PACER under Case No. 23-CR-91-RGA.
