A Swanzey resident has admitted guilt in a federal court for the theft of firearms from Trader John’s Gun Shop. Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack announced that Khale Guillou, aged 19, entered a guilty plea to one count of theft of firearms from a federal firearms licensee. The sentencing is set for June 24, 2025, by Judge Samantha D. Elliott.

Court documents reveal that on July 6, 2024, Guillou broke into Trader John’s Gun Shop and stole 18 firearms. Investigators later retrieved four of these weapons from his vehicle on July 15, 2024, and two more from his residence on July 20, 2024.

The legal repercussions for theft of firearms from a federal licensee can include up to ten years in prison and fines reaching $250,000 or twice the gross gain or loss resulting from the crime.

The investigation was spearheaded by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives with significant support from local police departments in Keene, Swanzey, Winchester, and Tewksbury. Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Krasinski is handling the prosecution.
