A Guatemalan national, Jorge Martinez-Urizar, has been sentenced in U.S. District Court in Portland for re-entering the United States after a prior removal. The sentencing was delivered by U.S. District Judge Nancy Torresen, who sentenced Martinez-Urizar to time served. Detained since November, he is likely to face deportation now that his case has concluded.

Martinez-Urizar pleaded guilty on February 5, 2025. According to court records, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent conducted a records check on him in November 2024. This revealed that he had been removed from the country three times before, with the most recent removal occurring in July 2005. He had not filed any applications or petitions for permission to reenter or remain in the United States lawfully.

His previous removal followed a 70-month sentence served in Oregon for assault in the second degree and unlawful use of a weapon. ICE investigated this case.
