A Pittsburgh resident has admitted guilt in a federal court to charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, according to Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.
Hazeon Kidd, 24, entered his guilty plea before United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon. The court was informed that on May 18, 2024, Kidd was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police. A search uncovered a loaded firearm near where Kidd was seated. Due to previous convictions for firearm and drug trafficking offenses, it is illegal for him to possess firearms.
Judge Bissoon has set sentencing for July 24, 2025, at 10:00 am. The law allows for up to fifteen years in prison and/or a fine of $250,000. The final sentence will consider the offense's severity and Kidd's criminal history.
Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway is handling the prosecution for the government. The investigation leading to Kidd's prosecution was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.
