A Naugatuck resident, Travis Tilley, 41, has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography while on state probation for previous child exploitation offenses. The announcement was made by Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
Court documents reveal that Tilley was convicted in 2019 for risk of injury to a child and possession of child pornography. He began a 15-year probation period after being released from state custody in August 2022.
On March 9, 2023, during an unannounced visit by state probation officers to his residence, Tilley's laptop and flash drive were seized. Analysis showed he used prohibited software to access explicit material sites and encrypted services. The investigation uncovered two videos depicting sexual exploitation of prepubescent children and approximately 60 images of AI-generated child pornography.
Tilley is scheduled for sentencing on June 6, facing a mandatory minimum imprisonment term of 10 years and a maximum of up to 20 years due to enhanced penalties from prior convictions. He has been detained since his arrest on March 28, 2023.
The investigation involved Homeland Security Investigations with assistance from the Connecticut Court Support Services Division – Adult Probation Services and the Westport Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel E. Cummings is prosecuting the case with support from the Office of the State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Waterbury.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood Initiative by the U.S. Department of Justice aimed at protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
