A Lancaster man has pleaded guilty to charges related to child pornography, as announced by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo. Alexander Grupp, 32, entered the plea before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer in Buffalo, New York. The charge of receipt of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and could result in up to 40 years in prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Franz M. Wright provided details on Grupp's prior conviction in March 2018 for Possessing Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child under sixteen years old in New York State Court, which resulted in a sentence that included 10 years' probation. In October 2022, Grupp used the instant messaging application Discord to communicate with a 15-year-old girl and persuaded her to send him nude images.

The investigation leading to this plea was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation under Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia's direction.

Sentencing will be scheduled at a future date.
