Terrell Bell, a 27-year-old resident of Schenectady, New York, has admitted to possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Daniel Hanlon and Craig L. Tremaroli, Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Bell was on parole in January 2024 when authorities conducted a search of his home in Schenectady. During this search, law enforcement discovered nearly 1,800 fentanyl pills in his bedroom and seized over $90,000 found throughout the residence.

The sentencing for Bell is scheduled for July 9, 2025. He faces a potential prison sentence ranging from a minimum of five years to a maximum of forty years. Additionally, he could be fined up to $5 million and may receive a supervised release term lasting between four years and life after serving his prison sentence. The final sentence will be determined by a judge based on the violated statute, U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, and other relevant factors. Bell has also agreed to forfeit the currency seized during the search.

The FBI led the investigation into this case with support from the Schenectady Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mikayla Espinosa is handling the prosecution.
